Tess' Plants
Photo Card Pictures
Introduction
For the subject of my photo cards I elected to use one of my suite mate's plants. Since I took these pictures as the sun was going down and my suite mate had pink lights in her room I chose to use the hallway of Finch to take these pictures. The hallway of Finch adds both difficult and helpful characteristics when working the shot.
Angle
I chose this angle because usually a plant that sits on a window sill is not seen from the below area. Seeing a plant from this angle that is only about ten inches tall from this angle makes it appear to be much larger than it actually is. This challenges the viewers' belief of a common, small, house plant.
Light Space
While the space in the background may not be completely light, it still acts as a lightened area for the background of this photo. The use of the light wall compared to the darkness of the carpet makes the top half of the picture significantly lighter than the bottom half.
Symmetry
I used symmetry for this last shot, event though the plant itself does not present perfect symmetry, this shot is still symmetrical in nature. This allows for the plant to be featured exactly in the middle in a satisfying composition.
